Impressionism Dilemmas

The point of painting is the fact that it is a different art form. Something unique that not many people can do very well. It’s actually a hard thing to do, so I respect those who can. I also envy them, I wish I could draw or paint. I don’t think there will be a shift in modern art because some people can’t take photographs as well as they can paint. For example, my Mom can draw like a beast, but not so great at taking pictures. Although technology is and will continue improving, I don’t think that’s going to make any difference because there is still going to be artists who paint for a living.

updatee.

We just finished up taking our notes, and now I’m working on “generative art” tutorials. This past weekend I took multiple pictures of smoke while I was with my friends. I can’t wait to edit them and see what I can do all of them. I want to have a lot of color, but have the background black and white. I don’t want them to be realistic at all, I also want them to look not posed, so candid. And that’s where I currently am.

Ethics of Editing

To me the way people edit their photographs is their own personal taste. If their given a model lacking something, they’ve found ways to enhance that picture. I don’t see anything wrong with the way people edit things. I believe they are doing their jobs by editing the photograph and turning it into top quality. Sure it might not be realistic, but it’s what looks best. We all know what we see in magazines isn’t real anyways. Nobody is perfect but magazine editors are put up to try and make them as close to perfect as they can. It’s what they get paid for. In my opinion changing the colors of photographs is very fun, even though it’s not always realistic; in most cases it looks a lot better than the original. Messing with the levels is one of my favorite things to do, it basically just changes the brightness and contrast, but on a higher scale.

Cutest kid I know.

Currently i'm working on finishing up the "old process" project. This is one of my favorites only because she didnt know i was going to take a picture of her, she was looking in the mirror trying to fix her hair. Then when i said look at me, this is the result i got. i love taking candids because you never know what product your going to end up with.

This is one of my favorite pictures, it was taken in downtown San Antonio, Texas. What do you think?

I take photos because I think it’s a fun and can be very inspiring. Researching famous photographers is a very inspiring thing. I may not be very good, but it’s still a hobby I like to do. And I hope as I further this hobby I’ll eventually get better. I think each year I show little improvement in what I do. In order to do better I need to set more specific time to take photos. I enjoy capturing a special moment, something or someone off guard. As if the camera doesn’t exist. Also one of my very favorite things to take pictures of is nature. I absolutely love trees and when their leaves start changing colors. Nature is constantly changing, and its very beautiful when it does. Taking pictures of my dog and cat are as well something I enjoy doing. My dog doesn’t like close ups though, every time I try she puts her ears down. Photographing friends is quite fun as well, but sometimes doesn’t turn out as well because goofing off occurs. So my own personal goal as a photographer is to capture life, and the different forms of it. Different expressions and emotions. How it can be in many different ways, shapes and forms. I tend to favor the black and white images, but when their in color I like high contrast in the colors. Some of my pictures are very unrealistic with their colors, I think it puts my own unique twist on them.
